Code of Conduct

When completing an application form for free travel, parents are required by Transport for NSW to read the Code of Conduct before completing the form.

Code of Conduct for School Students on Buses

To ensure your safety and the comfort of other passengers students will:

  • Behave safely at all times
  • Respect the needs and comfort of other passengers
  • Behave appropriately at all times (eg no use of offensive language, fighting, spitting, placing feet on seats or throwing things in or from the bus)
  • Protect bus property and report any vandalism
  • Show their travel pass or ticket to the driver upon boarding and when requested
  • Only use the travel pass for its intended purpose
  • Maintain possession of the travel pass at all times
  • Follow the driver's instructions about safety on the bus (eg instructions on where to sit)
  • Adhere to the law that bans smoking on buses
  • Refrain from eating and drinking (except water) on board the bus
  • Keep arms, legs and other parts of their bodies inside the bus
  • Only attract the attention of the driver in the case of an emergency

Conditions of Travel

  • Bus Passes must be shown on each journey, if not the student must pay a fare
  • Any ticket case used to carry this pass must have a clear untinted window, with the front of the pass visible
  • Passes must not be defaced and must be kept whole
  • Passes are not transferable and any illegal use will result in the pass being withdrawn
  • Bus passes are valid for travel between the registered address to or from school on school days only. Journey cannot be broken
  • Bus passes are not valid to or from sporting events, etc
  • Lost, stolen or defaced passes will be replaced for a fee. Click here to download a Bus Pass Replacement form
  • Passes must be returned if the holder changes address, transfers to another school or ceases to attend school
  • Students must follow the driver's instructions at all times
  • Unruly or misbehavior will be dealt with at the Coastal Liner's discretion
  • Any person found causing damage will be prosecuted
  • Bus passes always remain the property of Coastal Liner
